Numerical Study of Three-Dimensional Surface Jets Emerging from a Fishway Entrance Slot

چکیده

The efficiency of a fishway is determined by the ability immigrating fish to follow its attraction flow (i.e., jet) locate and enter entrance. hydraulic characteristics entrance jets can be simplified using findings from widely investigated surface produced shaped nozzles. However, effect different boundary conditions (characterized vertical slots) compared nozzle must considered. We investigate downstream propagation slot into quiescent tailrace, considering following not considered for jets: (1) geometry, (2) turbulence approach slot, (3) presence lateral wall slot. quantify these three-dimensional hydrodynamic-numeric simulations with DES RANS models volume-of-fluid method (VoF) simulate free water surface. In addition, we compare jet existing analytical methods describing propagations show that turbulent inhomogeneous towards reduces length in tailrace due increased spreading nozzle. An additional significantly increases length. For highly flows at entrances, model tends overestimate transient model.

A Three-dimensional Numerical Modeling of Contaminant Dispersion from Arvand Rood River into the Persian Gulf

The Persian Gulf is an important economic and geo-political region. Owing to its oil and gas resources, it is one of the busiest waterways in the world. There are many operating oil wells in the northern part of the Persian Gulf . As a result, the risk of contaminant dispersion is high. The deliberate discharge of 6.3 million barrels of crude oil during the 1991 war against Kuwait in this regio...

Three-Dimensional Numerical Study of Impinging Water Jets in Runout Table Cooling Processes

Cooling from impinging water jets in runout table (ROT) processing depends on the fluid flow and depth of water accumulated in the water pool that forms on the surface of the moving steel strip. This effect is investigated with a three-dimensional (3-D) computational model of fluid flow, pressure, and free surface motion for realistic banks of nozzles within the flow rate region of the ROT proc...

Three-dimensional simulations of jets

We present three-dimensional direct numerical simulations of an hydrodynamical supersonic jet, comparing them to analogous results obtained in two dimensions. The differences seen between three-dimensional and two-dimensional jet evolution including faster evolution, enhanced mixing and larger jet momentum depletion, are interpreted in terms of specific physical differences between these two ca...

Numerical Study of Interaction of Two Plane Parallel Jets

In the present work, a numerical simulation of two parallel turbulent jets was performed. The simulations were carried out by using the  standard, the  standard and the RSM models. A parametric study was also presented to determine the effect of the nozzles spacing and velocity ratio on the axial and transverse positions of the merge and combined points. Correlations between the various paramet...

Multi-dimensional numerical simulations of molecular jets

Molecular jets announce the successful birth of a protostar. We develop here a model for the jets and their environments, adapting a multi-dimensional hydrocode to follow themolecular-atomic transitions of hydrogen. We examine powerful outflows into dense gas. The cocoon which forms around a jet is a very low density cavity of atomic gas. These atoms originate from strong shocks which dissociate...
